Top: Your top should have long sleeves. A cotton blouse that buttons up would be perfect. Authentic blouses had full long sleeves and high necklines. Your blouse can be solid (bright colors are acceptable if desired), or small calico type prints.
Skirts: Your skirt should be long, but not floor length. Ideally the skirt would hit you just above the ankle. Too long and you will be tripping over it as you hike and pull the handcart. Either a solid or a print is fine. Skirts can be plain or have a ruffle. Make sure your skirt is quite full, hiking in a skirt can be very difficult if the skirt is not full enough.
Dresses are also great, they should follow the guidelines above (long sleeves, ankle length skirt, high neckline)
